The Canadian Ski Patrol System (CSPS) is a registered non-profit corporation comprising highly-trained volunteer and professional members. The System is national in scope and was formed to promote safe skiing and to provide assistance to injured skiers. The CSPS's membership of more than 6,000 patrollers provides a Canada-wide, highly-skilled and responsible service to the skiing industry.

CSPS-Mountain Division is made up of 34 alpine and nordic ski areas in 10 Zones across all of Alberta and the Yukon. Its 800 volunteer members not only provide emergency care at winter ski areas but also at summer events such as the Klondike International Trail of 98 Road Relay in the Yukon, Taste of Edmonton, 5 Peaks Adventure Race Series in the Kananaskis Valley…not to mention the Mountain Bike Patrol at Canada Olympic Park.

Another important facet of the CSPS-Mountain Division is its strong commitment to public education. With programs such as Safety Now, Snowsmart and Avalanche Awareness, members of the CSPS take the snow safety message to thousands of school children every year throughout Alberta and the Yukon.

Who can join the CSPS?
The Canadian Ski Patrol System is a great social organization and the perfect
excuse to enjoy skiing/snowboarding on a regular basis. Ski Patrollers come from
diverse backgrounds....teachers, students, doctors, carpenters, retiree's...you name
it. Our common links are a love for skiing/snowboarding and a desire to help
others.

Anyone who is 18 years old and is a strong intermediate nordic or alpine skier/snowboarder is eligible to join. As a member of the CSPS, you will need to be able to handle all the types of terrain and snow conditions you would encounter at your local alpine or nordic area.

From the moment you join the CSPS, you'll be volunteering, learning and
interacting in a team environment. Our certified training will give you the chance
to learn about emergency care, avalanche control, lift evacuation, skiing/ snowboarding improvements, toboggan handling, and other interesting topics. Training starts in early September each year, and ski/snowboard evaluations are in November. Patrollers receive various benefits, depending on where they patrol.

CSPS members are people with a strong desire to help others, improve their on snow abilities and make outside recreation safer for everyone. If this sounds like you, contact any member of the CSPS.
